Expert’s Advice
What is a chiropodist ?
Ki-róp-a-dist
A chiropodist is a primary health care professional that specializes in the treatment and prevention of diseases, disorders or dysfunctions relating to the foot and ankle.
Chiro: latin prefix meaning “the hand”
Pody: Greek derivative meaning in relations to the foot or feet
In simpler terms, it is fixing or treating the feet with your hands!
To become a chiropodist, you need to have an Advanced Diploma in Chiropody or equivalent (3-year program) and to practice in Ontario, you must have successfully passed the College of Chiropodist of Ontario’s board exams.
