Ronald Barron

Doctor of Podiatric Medicine
Ron grew up in the Northern Ontario town of Kapuskasing before moving to Toronto as a 10 year old. He studied Orthotics and Prosthetics Technology at George Brown College and worked in this field for more than a decade. After running his own orthopedic fabrication business for several years, Ron pursued medical studies in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Kent State University.
Following his podiatry studies, Ron completed a surgical internship in Monroe, Michigan. Ron then came to Ottawa and worked as an associate with long time Podiatrist David Greenberg, DPM and later, as an associate with Antoun Hajj, DPM at the Ottawa Foot Clinic.
Ron recently returned to Ottawa after completing 18 months of residency training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Interfaith Medical Center and Brookdale University Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Ron has a very strong background in management of various lower extremity issues, with a particular interest in surgery. This includes various digital and nail procedures, cyst excisions, neuroma excisions, tendon lengthening and other procedures, Durolane joint injections, plantar fasciotomies and many other surgical procedures of the foot. He is experienced in the design and fitting of foot and ankle orthoses for management of Posterior Tibial Tendinitis/Parkinson Syndrome/foot drop, among other conditions. His knowledge is also extensive in the use of advanced wound healing grafts: Appligraf, Dermagraft, Epifix, as well as the use of wound vacs and bone stimulators. Ron is experienced in the use of the Hyprocure stent to correct a reducible flat foot.
Ron is thrilled to be back in Ottawa and looks forward to joining the staff at the Kanata Foot Clinic and helping people in the National Capitol District!!
